Riding Against Cancer 2021

4th Annual Riders Against Cancer Breast Health Awareness Events

Save the Date

The group’s flagship event, an annual poker run known as Riding for Mammograms, will occur on September 18, 2021. This event attracts motorcycle riders and enthusiasts from all over Rowan, Cabarrus and Mecklenburg Counties.

Kickoff Party

RAC is starting off their 2021 fundraising campaign with a Kickoff Party on April 17th.  They have a fun filled day planned to raise money and bring awareness to Breast Health, with their most supportive and faithful DJ, John Zvara (Jazz Entertainment). RAC has designed a Stay -n- Play Poker Fun Tournament, it is the same concept as a poker run, but each stop is a game and when you win that game you spin for a card to go on your poker hand sheet. Prizes will be awarded for best and worst hand.

Make sure to enter your motorcycle in the People’s Choice Bike Show and take home the awesome trophy that was designed by Mike Mcnulty.

Registration starts at 2 PM until 4:30 PM. One winner will be announced at 5 PM. 50/50 and Chinese Auction winners will be announced at 5:30 PM. Food will be served until gone.

RAC Event History

Approximately 1 in every 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer in their lifetime. But the owners and patrons of The Lucky Turn Around, a neighborhood bar located in China Grove, are working to change that. The group Riders Against Cancer leads a year-round effort to raise money to provide mammograms to women regardless of their ability to afford one. Over the last three years, RAC has raised more than $68,605.

Although the 2020 events had to be cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group continued to raise money through merchandise and sponsors and raised $19,605 — enough money to provide 85 screening mammograms, 46 diagnostic mammograms and 57 ultrasounds, in partnership with Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation.

Where the rubber meets the road

The Lucky Turn Around in China Grove, North Carolina, is a hot spot for motorcycle riders, family and friends. Patrons can grab an appetizer, play pool and throw darts. And the pink lemonade is extra special: Buy a glass, and the proceeds go toward providing lifesaving mammograms to women in need.

T-shirt sponsorship

The Riders Against Cancer (RAC) are partnering with Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Foundation again this year in raising funds to provide free screening and diagnostic mammograms for the uninsured and underinsured in our community. In 2018, a group of 25 women founded a committee for the Lucky Turn Around’s inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Poker Run, “Riding for Mammograms.”

Our goal this year is to raise $23,000. You can help us save lives by supporting this much needed community outreach. Please consider becoming a t-shirt sponsor or make a donation to help us in our fight against breast cancer. These funds are tax deductible and a great advertising opportunity for your company!

Thanks to an anonymous donor, your donation will be matched by 50%.

On behalf of the RAC Committee and Novant Health, we would like to thank you for your participation in helping us to save lives by providing free screening and diagnostic mammograms.

Thank You,
Stacey Thomas
