Each spring, Novant Health and Novant Health Foundation bring together local families, healthcare providers, and community partners for a joyful, resource-rich event supporting expecting parents and infants. These gatherings offer crucial early support, fostering healthier outcomes for parents and babies alike. While Novant Health Community Engagement leads these initiatives, their success is fueled entirely by philanthropic contributions from the Novant Health Foundation.

Recently, events at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center and Novant Health Midtown Medical Plaza in Wilmington united hundreds of families with dedicated volunteers, nonprofit partners, and sponsors. Far beyond a simple celebration, these showers equip new and expecting parents with essential resources, clinical education, and a supportive network to help their families thrive.

Addressing Critical Needs Promptly

For many participants, the support at these events tackles immediate, pressing issues:

• 10% of families faced food insecurity, receiving food boxes to fulfill basic nutritional needs.

• 36% lacked safe car seats, crucial for newborn safety and transport to medical appointments.

• 24% did not have safe strollers, hindering access to appointments, groceries, and community.

Families also received travel cribs, educational materials, and direct healthcare connections, reducing obstacles that could lead to delayed care and poorer health outcomes.
