Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation invests in the frontline of patient care

Based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics projections, the state of North Carolina projects it will hire 120,000 nurses by 2025. With only 83,000 active nurses in North Carolina, Novant Health is developing innovative strategies to better retain talent, recruit the top leaders in the field, and encourage continued education across the nursing sector.

As nursing continues to grow into an increasingly complex, specialized profession, we must ensure that we remain dedicated to maintaining clinical excellence, which involves increasing expertise, adhering to evidenced-based practices, and exceeding national benchmarks.

Nurses are on the frontline of care and are the key to ensuring quality care for our patients and their families. Therefore, the Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation invests in opportunities for professional growth and the academic attainment among healthcare team members. In 2016 the foundation and its generous partners have funded:

  • $100,000+ in scholarships
  • $98,000 in continuing education

Opportunities for Giving

  1. Scholarship Fund for Nursing: This program creates opportunities for motivated healthcare personnel to achieve higher degrees of proficiency through education. The fund will assure that Novant Health continues to have a qualified and educated work force while promoting lifelong learning for individuals committed to the nursing industry.
  2. Continuing Education Fund: This program helps subsidize the cost of training and continuing education opportunities for Novant Health’s clinical team members. These funds will encourage the development of new skills, which benefit in the delivery of excellent patient care and foster outstanding professional development for nursing clinicians at Novant Health.
