Growth is coming to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
Our NICU Expands
Novant Health has seen a significant increase in our community’s need for women’s and children’s services since 2017. Our labor and delivery team has served 13.3% more patients over the past three years, and our NICU admission rate has grown 28.6%. Our expanded NICU, slated to open in 2023, will allow our teams to better serve the babies delivered at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center who need critical care.
The expansion will provide:
- Enhanced clinical workflow
- 12 new NICU beds, allowing us to serve 25% more infants who need our care
- Three new physician sleep-rooms with private bathrooms
- Enhanced team lounge for our incredible team of 11 board-certified neonatologists, 27 neonatal nurse practitioners, 145 specially trained RNs, expert respiratory therapists and dedicated rehabilitation staff
Our Breast Center expands
Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Breast Center is the only Novant Health comprehensive breast center in central Charlotte, and each year over 20,000 community members rely on our facility and our staff to meet their breast health needs. The plans for our expanded Breast Center, slated to open in 2022, include:
- Two additional screening mammography units, allowing 120 additional patients to be screened each day
- New Automated Breast Ultrasound Unit [ABUS]
- The addition of a new diagnostic navigator to support patients after an abnormal mammogram and before a diagnosis can be confirmed or denied
- A new high-risk clinic for those at increased risk of breast cancer
- Two additional screening rooms for future growth/equipment
- Refreshed design, workflow and feel of the existing space
- Enhanced parking access for patients
- A garden designed for patients to enjoy
- A bridge program to support those who are uninsured or under-insured with annual breast screenings and support
