At Novant Health, we show up for our patients and for each other. Through the Giving. Serving. Together. campaign, team member giving fuels the Employee Emergency Fund — a resource that offers support to team members when unexpected challenges arise.

When Bailey Helms was a certified medical assistant lead in Charlotte, she experienced that support firsthand. After facing three water line breaks at home, she and her partner were hit with a $108 utility bill they couldn’t afford. “We live paycheck to paycheck,” Bailey shared. “We couldn’t pay that when we’re used to paying a fourth of it.”

A fellow team member encouraged her to apply for assistance through the Novant Health Foundation Employee Emergency Fund. “It was hard to ask for help,” she said. “But the process was simple and respectful. I submitted what I needed and heard back in three days.” When she learned she had been approved, she cried. “That support helped us stay on track. We didn’t fall behind or go into debt. It gave us peace of mind.”

Bailey’s experience inspired her to give back. Today, Bailey gives to the Employee Emergency Fund through Giving. Serving. Together. “Thank you to every team member who gives,” she said. “Because of you, I was able to keep going. I give now so someone else can feel that same relief and support when they need it.”
