When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, healthcare facilities everywhere found themselves scrambling to outfit providers with the masks, gowns and gloves needed to treat their patients.

When Curtis Jenkins joined Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant in 2003, he wasn’t sure if nursing was for him. But he decided to give it a try, and that was all it took.

The Lucky Turn Around in China Grove, North Carolina, is a hot spot for motorcycle riders, family and friends. Patrons can grab an appetizer, play pool and throw darts. And the pink lemonade is extra special: Buy a glass, and the proceeds go toward providing lifesaving mammograms to women in need.

My daughter was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease at the age of 11. It was a crash course in the realities of the healthcare landscape. Quality care was not universal, and that brought its share of challenges. As my daughter’s health improved, I decided I wanted to help transform healthcare in our community.
