The Women’s Council of Forsyth Medical Center Foundation is a group of dynamic women who are passionate about improving their health and the health of other women in the community through education and support of critical Novant Health initiatives.
Formed in 2009, this group of passionate women has donated well over half a million dollars. A critical supporter of the Novant Health Maya Angelou Women’s Health & Wellness Center at Forsyth Medical Center, the Women’s Council most recently provided funding for the following:
- Forsyth Connects
- A licensed clinical social worker for Today’s Woman
- Medication and transportation expenses for women with gynecologic cancers
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, the Women’s Council is embarking on one of its biggest initiatives yet: helping more women take charge of their breast health. No matter a woman’s financial circumstances, insurance coverage or means of transportation, she should have access to remarkable care. A mammogram can mean the difference between life and death, but this basic healthcare service is beyond the reach of many women in our community. The Women’s Council is here to change that by raising $350,000 for a new mobile mammography unit that will serve the greater Winston-Salem market. Annual dues are $100.
