A serious health diagnosis can be overwhelming — physically and emotionally. That’s why Novant Health offers the guidance of a patient navigator to anyone being treated for cancer, recovering from stroke, or facing women’s health issues. Thanks to generous giving through Novant Health foundations, patients and their loved ones can receive at no charge clear explanations about their medical conditions, information about their options for treatment, and assistance with scheduling doctor’s visits and follow-up care.

All of us who work to fulfill Novant Health’s community-centered mission are adamant that no person should have to live without essential health care because of cost, insurance issues, lack of convenient access, or any other barrier. It’s one thing to believe this, but thanks to the generosity of donors like you, we’re meeting these challenges head on. Novant Health is working to transform “health care deserts” into well-resourced communities. Here are a few success stories made possible by your giving:

• Expanding Today’s Woman OB/GYN in Winston-Salem to provide primary care services
• Deploying mobile health units to needed communities across NC to  provide easier access to primary care, vaccines and screenings, including mammograms
• Placing community health workers in access clinics to connect patients with community resources to address social determinants of health

• Launching Bridges to Healthcare, Novant Health’s first program  supporting the education of high school students and graduates, providing early exposure to healthcare careers.
