Thank you for supporting our healthcare heroes during these unprecedented times

We at Novant Health are humbled by the outpouring of support during these challenging times. The coronavirus pandemic has forced us into a fierce fight. Our healthcare professionals across Novant Health are suiting up every day ready for battle, rising up as heroes to serve our communities in their time of greatest need.

We want to say thank you to everyone who has sent messages of hope, donations of food, masks and medical equipment.

To every individual, family, and business who have given so generously to the Hope for Remarkable Team Aubergine Fund (formerly the Novant Health COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund), THANK YOU!

And there is so much more work to be done…

As Novant Health continues to provide care for our patients and communities at large in our fight against the coronavirus outbreak, we know our nurses and team members will continue to need our support. The road will be long, but Novant Health Foundation is here to support our team members, patients, and the communities we serve for as long as it may take.

Thank you to our nurses for all you do, and thank you for all you do to support the Novant Health mission of improving the health of our communities, one person at a time.

We will get through this together!

With gratitude,

Ann Caulkins
Senior Vice President, Novant Health
President, Novant Health Foundation

How Cindy Little and her team have been a source of calm amid COVID-19

Cindy Little has many stories she could share from her 36-year career in nursing.

As a nurse manager for Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center’s intensive care unit and rapid response team, some of her most inspiring stories come from leading her team through their toughest challenge yet: COVID-19.

“I have a line that I use: ‘Panic serves no useful purpose,’” Little said. “It’s something I share and demonstrate with my team all the time.”

Emily Harry and family help paint our community purple

When the coronavirus pandemic broke out, Emily Harry and her family wanted to help in some way. They turned to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center Foundation and our Hope for Remarkable Team Aubergine Fund.

A few Novant Health doctors live on Harry’s street, just miles away from the hospital, working on the front lines – so the cause became personal.

Harry decided to join Novant Health’s “Paint the Town Purple” campaign, which asked people to place a purple ribbon on their front door, mailbox, or tree as a show of support.

Thanks to word-of-mouth and social media, Harry has raised more than $15,000 for our foundation. The relief fund helps provide medical supplies for healthcare workers and other necessities, like child care or a hotel room if they need to stay away from family during the crisis.

Thank you to Emily Harry and our entire community, who came together to support our team members during this campaign.

How our child life specialists have stepped up to provide comfort during this pandemic

The role of our child life specialist is to help patients and families cope with the fear and anxiety that may result from coming to the hospital. During this pandemic, our child life specialist team has created books, flyers and other visual aids to help explain COVID-19 in ways children can understand. They have also developed tips and suggestions to help children and families cope during this challenging time.

The foundation is proud to support our child life specialists as they continue to develop resources to best support our patients, families and healthcare workers as we navigate this unprecedented time together.

Novant Health unsung heroes inspire gift to aid COVID-19 response

The Good Fellows Club made a $50,000 gift to the Hope for Remarkable Team Aubergine Fund to support front-line clinical and environmental services team members. This team includes not just those actively fighting COVID-19, but also those team members who perform the critical, behind-the-scenes work to keep our healthcare facilities safe, clean and up and running every single day.

David Tepper Charitable Foundation donation will support our efforts in responding to the coronavirus pandemic

The David Tepper Charitable Foundation made a $350,000 donation to support our efforts surrounding coronavirus disease (COVID-19). These funds from this generous gift will be distributed across Charlotte, Winston-Salem, Thomasville, Rowan and Brunswick.

“I’m grateful that the David Tepper Charitable Foundation is providing funding to support the ongoing delivery of healthcare during this pandemic,” said Ann Caulkins, president of Novant Health Foundation. “This truly is a time of everyone working together for our communities.”
