“I saw my parents, as they were more financially able, start to give back to the hospital, and it made me want to follow in their footsteps to help any way I could,” Steve said.

For as long as Bernie Washington can remember, she has had a standing weekly dinner date with her mother. The ritual is as important for Washington now as it was when she was a child.

Carolyn is the annual fund manager at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center Foundation. Her cancer was caught early, and Carolyn was able to receive the treatment she needed.

Of all the things the COVID-19 pandemic has taken away, Rayvon Mitchell misses hugs the most. Mitchell, a certified nursing assistant, works as a curbside assistant at Novant Health Derrick L. Davis Cancer Institute.
