Funder stewardship is key to a successful grant-funded project. Once a funder awards Novant Health a grant, a grants manager collaborates with the internal project director to ensure Novant Health honors the funder’s award terms and money is spent correctly. As philanthropic investors in Novant Health’s mission, grant funders wish to know if their financial support actually improves healthcare. The internal project director and his or her team bear the important responsibility of tracking results as required.

The grants administration team assists with preparation of funder reports and coordinates ongoing communication between Novant Health leadership, project team members and the funder.

Secure funding for a variety of clinical needs, such as:

• Provision of services to low-income individuals

• Purchase of new equipment

• Construction or renovation of facilities

Comprised of relationship managers, fund managers and proposal developers, the grants administration team guides project team members through the grant application process, from identifying funders and developing project concepts to drafting text and budgets. The grants administration team submits the actual grant application on behalf of the appropriate local market foundation.

Novant Health policy requires that all grant applications be submitted by the Novant Health Foundation or the appropriate, local market foundation, as grant funders receive many more requests than available grant funds. Coordinated and streamlined communication between Novant Health and grant funders is essential to successful partnerships.
